The Best Cookie Ever

    Tis The Season.....

For Baking and Giving!

I believe this is the best oatmeal and chocolate chip cookie recipe ever. I think it is similar to Mrs. Fields but doubt it's the exact same recipe. I have baked these for Christmas gifts for many years but plan to do things a little different this year.
I will be gifting the cookie dough, raw and frozen. Recipients only have to thaw, scoop and bake! They will have fresh baked cookies to take to a party, family gathering or just for an evening treat.

This is a large recipe. It makes about 112 cookies.

2 cups butter
2 cups sugar
2 cups brown sugar
4 eggs
2 tblsp. vanilla
4 cups all purpose flour
5 cups old fashioned oatmeal
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1- 24oz bag of semi sweet chocolate chips
3 cups chopped pecans (can use walnuts)

Grind the oatmeal in a food processor or blender until it turns to a rough powder. Combine flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder and baking soda and set aside.
Cream softened butter and sugars together.  Add eggs and vanilla mixing well. Add dry ingredients, one third at a time mixing well after each addition. Batter will be thick.
At this time I scrape the batter from my mixer bowl into a larger bowl and add pecans and chocolate chips mixing by hand until well blended.
Scoop batter (a heaping tablespoon) onto a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 12 - 15 minutes or until lightly brown.

Since I am giving this cookie dough raw I packaged the dough in 1 quart freezer bags. Each bag weighed about 1 1/2 lbs and will make 24 cookies. Each recipe yielded 4 bags plus a dozen extra that I baked that night. I will be asking my friends if they liked receiving the raw dough versus the already baked cookies.

My Husband Terry and I want to wish you a Merry Christmas!

Our neighbor took these pictures for us. Thank you Harvey! We had them printed at Walmart.com
The vehicle is a 1925 Ford Model TT truck.

Have a Blessed Day!
